Minister Dennis Jones

Minister DENNIS JONES, L.S.S.N.U.
Dennis Jones is a former Local Government Officer who took voluntary redundancy from public service some years ago preferring – instead –
to serve the public in quite a different way. He is a tireless worker for the Spirit World, undertaking a vast number of speaking, demonstrating, teaching and official services engagements both at home and abroad.
Dennis has been a working medium since October, 1989, thus achieving 21 years as a platform worker in 2010. He is a Class B member of the Spiritualists’ National Union (SNU), being certificated by that organisation as a Speaker and Demonstrator. He also holds the Diploma in Basic Foundation and the Speaker’s Diploma, both awarded by the SNU.
He was, for some years, a former Church Councillor and Education Officer to the West London District Council of the SNU where he specialised in Education, Training & Awards issues. He was a Course Tutor for the following SNU Education Courses: ‘Public Presentation’, ‘The Practice of Mediumship’ and ‘Guide to Official Services’. He was previously a member of the teaching staff at the Spiritualist Association of Great Britain (SAGB) teaching awareness and mediumship for both Beginners and for an Intermediate stage, but pressure of work in other areas led to the demise of that activity in May, 2002.
For several years, he was a member of the Board of Directors to the Two Worlds Publishing Company (until May, 2008) quite simply because ‘he believed in the product’ (and still does!). Dennis is also a regular contributor of articles for the ‘Psychic News’ weekly publication and a prolific writer for the ‘Two Worlds’ monthly magazine. He is currently a National Trustee to two SNU churches, namely Bournemouth Church and Portsmouth Temple of Spiritualism.
He first became aware of the existence of an afterlife some years ago in Reading National Spiritualist Church where a much-loved cat (who had ‘died’ some years previously) literally ‘materialised’ before his eyes and proceeded to walk down the centre aisle of the Church. He subsequently developed his mediumship at Reading, whilst also becoming (in turn) Membership Secretary, Education Officer and a Vice-President of the church. Demands upon his mediumship beckoned from outside the confines of Reading Church, however, and this ultimately persuaded him to share his gifts with a wider audience. He remains a member of Reading Spiritualist Church and, in the last few years, he has raised in excess of £7,500 in funding for the Langford Veterinary Trust at Bristol as a result of his mediumship and associated activities. He is an Honorary Member of both Maidenhead Spiritualist Church and also the Newbury Spiritualist Fellowship
Dennis was appointed as an Officiant of the SNU in August 2001. Having conducted a large number of Official Services (i.e. Namings, Marriages and Funerals) over the years, his greatest joys in this area to date were undertaking the Naming Services for two granddaughters and officiating at his son’s wedding in August 2002. The toughest assignment so far was – ‘without doubt’ – conducting the funeral of a dear friend, Spiritual Artist, Leonie Phipps, C.S.N.U.(t), in January, 2004.
In June 2006, Dennis was offered – and subsequently accepted – an appointment as a Minister of the Spiritualists’ National Union and was formally ordained at a service conducted at Camberley Spiritualist Church on 16th September 2006.
He was appointed as the SNU’s Public Relations Officer from 1st October 2006 to 30th September 2007 and is currently the Regional Coordinator for the Union’s South Eastern Regional Forum for Ministers and Officiants.
From April 2008 to date, he has been an active member of the SNU’s Arbitration Committee and was delighted to receive the Union’s Long Service Award (L.S.S.N.U.) in November, 2009.
Dennis remains passionate about Spiritualism both as a religion and as a way of life and believes in offering ‘a complete service’ to Spiritualist Church Managers as a Speaker, Demonstrator, Teacher and Minister – an offer which has been gladly taken up over the years by a large number of churches, centres and people
Philosophically, he says ‘….it is both a joy and a privilege to work on behalf of the Spirit World…….if you want the highest and the best standards in mediumship, public speaking or anything else, you have to reach for the highest and the best and Spirit will provide’……………
